If You Hang COOKIES on your Christmas Tree ...

... will you get ants?!

We struggle almost year-round with ant armies at our house.

I'd love to bake some gingerbread cookies like the one I received today from the Food Network {follow this link} ...

And I'd love to poke those holes in the cookie before baking, and I'd love to sprinkle that crystal-sugar on top, and I'd love to put grosgrain ribbon through each cookie when they're cooled ... and I would LOVE to hang them on our Tree this year.

Imagine the scent of fresh TREE and fresh-baked GINGERBREAD COOKIES ... all mingled together. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. {that's a huge sigh, in case you didn't know}

BUT I do not want to sit down, put the lights on, get the music or a movie going, and look over to see .... an ant army marching along the branches of our tree !!! Let alone, eating those cookies.

PLEASE POST A COMMENT -- I really want to know if it's a good idea to hang cookies on the tree.

I love it! Just hang treats high enough so lil pooch can't get into any mischief. ;-) Judy

Sure - hang away.
But first "seal" them by dipping them into melted parafin wax to prevent the ants from wanting them!

Or find another "green" way to prevent the ants from finding that edible sugar lure...

okay, is it not enough for you Ohio'ans that there is PARAFFIN WAX on your precious Buckeye Balls? Now you want me to DIP my gingerbread cookies for the tree in WAX, too?! gimme a (waxless) break here. doesn't anyone else have a comment on COOKIES ON THE TREE and if they will attract ants? Puh-leez. -- D.

Yes! but it's not very green.Want to hear it? Well, saturate each cookie in RAID, that should do it my dear. That would also be a way to get rid of the ants that would go elsewhere, they will head for your cookies instead.
They will then know better than to mess with you! OH, don't let the grandkids eat them.

first i'm told to dip them in PARAFIN WAX -- now i'm told to spray 'em with RAID. Yikes! the whole reason I wanted them on the tree in the first place was - so I wouldn't have to trot downstairs for a TV-viewing SNACK, ladies.
;-) love you all, but you're scaring me !!!
